Toddler Temper Tantrums

Have toddler temper tantrums ever forced you to stay home?  Have toddler temper tantrums ever stopped you in your tracks when you heard earsplitting screams from the next aisle?  Maybe you’ve even considered not raising a family because of toddler temper tantrums!

Everyone knows about tantrums.  If you haven’t raised a child who threw temper tantrums, you probably know someone who did – or IS.  Toddler temper tantrums can really put a wrench into the gears of every day life – gears that we work hard to place just right and desperately want (and most often need) to run smoothly.

Why do our precious little ones feel the need to go to such great lengths to speak their mind?  Experts tell us the main reason children throw tantrums is out of frustration brought on by the fact that, although they’re still too young to be completely independent, many children insist on asserting their independence and doing things their own way or “all by themselves”.   How should you deal with toddler temper tantrums?  As with any issue, there are two sides and then there’s what you find that works for you.  Ask advice of friends, family and your child’s pediatrician, find information on the internet, or visit your local library and then do what you feel will work for your child.  Be consistent, stay the adult, communicate with your child, and if one thing doesn’t work to stop your toddler temper tantrums, try something else.

Most importantly, remember that you’re not the only person dealing with toddler temper tantrums, and you most certainly won’t be the last.  As long as there are toddlers, there will always be toddler temper tantrums!
